Tandem Scroll Compressor Arrangements

A tandem scroll arrangement generally uses two compatible compressors operating in parallel on a common circuit. It is distinct from a series arrangement that compresses refrigerant in successive stages.

Technical assessment

Staged operation can help match changing demand. Oil balancing, piping, minimum run times and approved combinations require attention. Two compressors do not by themselves provide full system redundancy.
